Planning a large dinner party in Newport Beach means juggling a guest list, a menu, and a kitchen that suddenly feels too small. Chef Randall Hane takes all three off your plate, bringing Michelin-trained technique and restaurant-scale experience straight to your home, backyard, or waterfront rental.
Randall trained under Chef Christophe Grosjean at Château de Brindos in Biarritz, France, a kitchen that went on to earn a Michelin star under Grosjean’s leadership. He carried that training back to Orange County, where he helped develop and open Selanne Steak Tavern in Laguna Beach alongside Chef Josh Severson, and later spent six years as Chef de Cuisine at Driftwood Kitchen, running the menu, staffing, and service for one of Laguna Beach’s most established oceanfront restaurants.
That background matters for a large dinner party. Feeding 12, 20, or 40 guests without a hitch takes more than a good recipe. It takes someone who has managed a real kitchen under real pressure, and Randall has done exactly that for over 17 years before going private.
Randall’s private chef and custom event catering services are designed around groups that outgrow a typical dinner party. One client, Billy Linas, hired him for an event of more than 100 guests and described the service as “professional, attentive, and seamless.” That same approach scales down cleanly for a 12-top dinner table or up for a full buffet-style celebration, so your Newport Beach gathering gets the same level of planning whether it is an intimate group or a large one.
Every large dinner party booking includes menu planning built around your guest count and preferences, on-site preparation and plating, full service throughout the event, and cleanup, so hosting a big group never means spending the night in the kitchen or scrubbing pans after the last guest leaves.
Randall is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, where he finished at the top of his class, and he holds a ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification, a meaningful detail for any host serving a large group of guests. He is also fluent in English, French, and Spanish, useful for international guests or a menu built around classic French technique.
Newport Beach dinner parties near the water often call for something a little more festive. Randall’s oyster bar experience adds a live shucking station to any large event, a detail guests remember long after the party ends.
Chef Randall Hane serves Newport Beach and the surrounding South Orange County communities, including Laguna Beach, Dana Point, and San Clemente.
